My Dodge Grand Caravan needed a strut replacement. The auto shop was going to charge me over $500 to replace it. I'm too much of a tight-wad to pay something I feel that I can do myself. I was preparing myself for a daunting task, but then on Youtube I found out about this strut. It was a lifesaver; plus it doesn't cost that much more than a strut without a spring. I was able to remove the old strut and replace it with this on in less than 1 hour. (You spend more time jacking up the car and finding the right tools.) Having the two struts side-by-side it is easy to see that the Monroe strut is much better quality. The greatest thing is that there is no compressing the spring on either strut! Just pop one out and put the other in. Simple. I would recommend this part to anyone, even if you only have a small experience with auto mechanics.

I ordered a pair of 171572's and ended up returning them because the spring diameters did not match. Take a close look at what you get from Monroe before installing it. I have had mixed luck... sometimes great, sometimes not so. I ended up returning them, and purchasing struts and mounts without the springs, plus strut compressors. More work but saved me money in the long run when I ended up replacing struts on a second car.
