I bought to use it along with the Blubridge RX BT receiver in my GLK350 for the kids so they can enjoy a quality time watching a movie or netflix on the iPad, without having to spend $2400 on another rear entertainment system for this car. So far so good I need to take it for a ride and I will post an update to this review and may add some pics or video of the setup.

The main issue I found is that I wanted to mount it on the passenger seat (cause I'm a tall guy and when I drive I take most of the rear space). So the only way to do it is to mount the Gripdaddy from the inside of the passenger seat and flip the mount that holds the iPad upside down. But I'm not sure how safe it is and you lose some of the iPad elevation level (loss of couple of inches or so)?!

The pros about this setup ar:

1-You can take it out and put it on another car.

2-No modification/wiring to your car.

3-When you don't have the kids you can take it out.

4-Affordable price, it could be cheaper, but it's somewhat reasonable.

5feels sturdy and solid.

Cons:

1No ability to mount it on the passenger seat, without compromising safety, view and or comfort.

2No storage bag, with Velcro to stick on the car carpet , in order to store it safely when not in use. it still $70 w/SH investment and you need to protect it.

UPDATE 02/07/2012:

I got the follow up for the seller/manufacturer about how to setup the mount on the passenger seat without losing elevation (Thank you Mark).

"If you want to set up the mount for your passenger seat instead of the driver seat here is the best way. There are 2 screws that hold the main plastic plate to the extension tube. To access the screws gently peel back the foam rubber pads that cover the screws just enough that they are still stuck to the plate but enough that you can get to the screws. Remove the screws and flip the plate over 90 degrees and reattach plate. Just snug the screws down, don't crank them down too hard. Push the foam rubber pads back down and it's ready to use on the passenger seat (Mark from GripDaddy, 2012)."

This worked for me. So it looks like you have some choices on how to setup the mount.

On the passenger seat you can mount it from the inside/front or the outside/back.

If you mount it form the outside the pipe will be on top.

One thing I noticed is that the hooks screws stick out of the knob when tightened. This could be a safety concern, with kids and all.

So the product could be improved by making the plastic knobs deeper, a foam cover, or something to prevent the hooks' screws from sticking out.

So far so good. This product works as advertised with some room of improvement.

It's the one of the best few solutions out there. I will be comparing it with COULVUE soon and I will be including some pics/videos.

I bought this mount for an iPad. From my research, this is the most stable and secure mount there is. It also has great adjustments.

As an emergency physician, I consider what would happen in the event of an accident; any object in the vehicle can become a deadly projectile. This mount helps to take the iPad off that list. This mount is SOLID.

Customer service has been incredible. At first, I needed a different size mount for our headrest. I emailed late on a weekend night and received a near instant reply. The part was sent the next business day. Later on, I lost a bolt for the device. Again, an off hours email and a near instant off hours reply and a next business day shipment of the part. Zero hassle. 6 months later, I needed a new part, probably because I had overtightened the bolt. Again, near instant reply on a Saturday, and a no hassle message of "sure, I'll send it out the next business day."

We need more companies like this.

Keep it up.

p.s., I have zero interest in this company, outside of want to repay my gratitude for a product and service well done.

Love it, this is a must buy to hold an ipad. We used this to hold an ipad2 with no case so kids could watch movies for a long trip. This product is solid, made of steel. Don't have to worry about this breaking. The arm can slide in and out and tilt so everyone can view it. Very easy to use, easy to get your ipad in and out, sits on two bars on bottom that are covered in rubber and one on the top covered in rubber. So no worries about scratching or your tablet falling out also the way it's designed it doesn't block the speaker. Wish I could give it 10 stars!

Honest reviews on Gripdaddy v2ARM iPad Headrest Mount

So I looked around for months and months for an iPad car headrest mount. With three children in the back, I knew that the iPad should be mounted in the center, between the two headrests. I read all the reviews in Amazon and other websites (both good and bad reviews) and I considered many manufacturers, some which I spoke with on the phone. My concerns where durability (plastic versus steel), adjustability, positioning, and price. I settled on the Gripdaddy initially because of its steel construction, wherein others where plastic.

We took a road trip (New York City to Evansville, Indiana) that took three days of leisure driving. I loaded the iPad with about eight movies and attached the Gripdaddy. From the instructions, the Gripdaddy attaches to the driver side headrest mount, which could have potentially annoyed me. So I popped out the screws in the center plate, and reversed it so that I could attach it to the passenger side headrest. That process took less than five minutes. Mounting it to the headrest took less than two minutes, and it was a solid mount that did not impede the movement of the headrest. The center steel bar was then tightened and then the iPad attached to the plate, which took not more than two minutes. If I wanted to take this whole thing off (when not doing road trips), it takes only about 1 minute.

The Gripdaddy mount is supposed to be for the center viewer, but the rod can be adjusted so that the iPad can sit a litte more to the left or the right seat. No reason to do that though so it sits in the center.

The iPad does not shake or vibrate. I don't understand why it shakes for others who have reviewed it. In my car, it is as solid as a headrest-mounted video. No shake or rattles. It also mounts easily into the mount pad even with my iPad protector case. For other headrest mounts, you have to remove the iPad from it protective case. In the Gripdaddy, you could still mount it with the case. More importantly, the iPad could easily be removed. Unlike other iPad mount, which takes multiple steps, removing the iPad from the Gripdaddy takes only three seconds. This is critical because during meal stops and toilet breaks, where everyone got off the car, I didn't want to leave the iPad hanging in the mount and attracting burglars. I wanted to take it with me (out of the car). Putting it back in was also pretty easy.

Once the iPad is mounted, it is basically almost at the level of the headrest. Probably just two inches lower. This is great for bigger kids because the iPad is at eye level. My youngest kid (six years old) sits in the center, so I had to angle the iPad lower so he could see it well. That was easy with the Gripdaddy.

If there is ONE single issue I have with the Gripdaddy is that it can slightly obstruct my view of the rear view mirror. Unfortunately, because the iPad height is at the headrest level, I can see the top 1.5 inches of the iPad peering into the rear view mirror. It is something that cannot be adjusted because the bracket has no height adjustability. It is not a manufacturing issue but more a design issue that is not easily tackled. Driving is still 100% safe despite having that 1.5 inch obstruction and I still have full visibility of my rear from the rear-view mirror. I drive a Mercedes Benz E350 wagon and perhaps for some cars, there will be no issue.

Overall I would highly recommend this.
