These McGard lugnuts are commonly used on Fords with a ½"-20 wheel stud, typically a 13/16" socket is used to remove/install the standard lugnuts and that is the same case for the McGard key. The McGard lugnuts have a shiny triple plated chrome surface that shines like a mirror and appears to be a very durable finish. The McGard key, however, does not appear to be as sturdy. The yield strength of the key pattern seems to be sub-par. I have already noticed some stress marks on parts of the key that "grip" the pattern on the lugnuts. Although the wheel locks may carry a lifetime warranty, I have my doubts the key will last as long. The installation was very straight-forward and they match the rest of the Ford alloy wheel lugnuts almost perfectly.
Pros: Slows down wheel thieves, is aesthetically pleasing (shiny), simple to install, and inexpensive.
Cons: The key seems to be the weakest link. If you lose the key and need to change the wheel, you will have to call a wheel shop or order a replacement key. Don't misplace the key or lose it! Many owners have complained that wheel locks only serve to interfere with the rightful owner of the wheels.
Overall: This is the most cost effective way to install the "OEM" wheel locks on a Ford. Ford wants 2-3 times the price of this kit at the dealership but it is the same product made by the same company.
