After reading the other 2 reviews for this product, I thought it would be appropriate to add my two cents. First, I paid $409 about a month ago for this product and I consider that a fair price. I'm not going to defend Amazon for quoting the list price as $599 ($499 is the MSRP on jbl.com), but they had the best price when I made the purchase. As far as having a "hum" when the power is off, if the device is connected correctly, then there must be something wrong with it and it should be returned for a replacement. I have had no such problem with mine. I have a 2007 Tiburon and the unit is installed on the deck of the hatchback. I used the cargo net to hold it down and put a piece of non-slip rug pad underneath it. It hasn't moved at all since the install. I can't say I've gotten response as low as 20hz, but I have no complaints about the frequency response or amplitude. Since installing this unit, I upgraded the stock speakers in the car so they could keep up, and the system absolutely rocks! JBL has a real winner here.

I'll tell you up front that this review is not about the performance of this sub, but rather the pricing of it. About a month ago (from the time I wrote this) this sub was priced at approximately $355.00 on Amazon. A week later this same sub jumps to $599.00. To me, that is a little funny, and I don't mean funny as in "ha ha." What's more is that Amazon's price is a full hundred bucks more than if you went to the JBL website and bought it directly from them at full MSRP for $499.00, which none of us are dumb enough to do, hence we shop elsewhere at places like Amazon. I feel as though Amazon is pricing this sub unfairly.
I know, I know...If I don't like it buy from somewhere else, which I certainly will do. But for those of you who might be shopping for this item exclusively on Amazon and nowhere else I'm just offering you this: put your credit card away and shop around a little more. Your wallet will thank you.

I installed my JBL MS Bass Pro in my 2006 Acura TSX with its factory stereo. After I installed it I noticed bass started coming out of the sub and the car was not even on. I had to turn the volume on the sub all the way down to stop the humming. I called JBL but they do not know what the problem is and they stated the sub should not give any sound if the car is off and the keys are out of the ignition. Once the car is started I can turn the gain up all the way and I do not have the loud humming or bass tone coming from the sub. I do not want to ship the unit back but that is what JBL recommends I do and they will send a brand new one. Putting this problem aside I was surprised at how loud this little thing is. The sound is pretty impressive for something this small. However do not expect this thing to hit 20Hz like it states in the specs for frequency response. I have a bass CD with test tracks and the lowest frequency I was able to get out of this thing was 30Hz. I have played around with the settings for about a month now and still no luck getting it to hit lower frequencies. The problem with it being so small is that it rolls around in the trunk very easily. Since I have had it my trunk I have to drive very slow around turns so it does not roll around too much. Now I have to find a way to strap it down so I can drive normally again. And no I am not a speed demon but it is a pain to drive around corners so slow and piss off the people behind me. The good thing is this little sub is very loud for its size and looks very nice and clean. JBL did a good job making this thing look nice. Installation was easy as well. I ran an 8 gauge power wire from my battery to the trunk and an 8 gauge ground wire to an existing ground point on the vehicles chassis. Also pay attention to the price on amazon because it does jump up and down. I got my Bass Pro about a month ago from amazon and it costs $409.00 at that time. I just wish it would hit 20Hz and JBL supplied something to strap it down. I will try to create another ground point in the car and see if this resolves my issue with the loud feedback I am getting from the sub. If I did not have this issue I would easily give this product 4 stars but it is a pain in the ass to start my car then go to my trunk and turn up the gain every time I want bass.
