I mounted the gooseneck directly the floor in my car, and this mount is extremely sturdy. The flexible gooseneck is actually a solid chunk of aluminum which is rather hard to bend, so once you set it, it's going to stay however you put it. The holder works fine for my Droid X, but I do have a couple problems. For one, where the holder slots into the mount is a little loose. Unless you plan on taking out the phone holder often, it might be wise to use some teflon tape to thicken up the slots or even glue the thing in there. Secondly, a far more minor, when I have a case on my Droid X it's difficult to get the USB cable to plug in to the phone to charge it, due to the clamps on the holder being rather large and obtrusive. I can't still charge it with a case on, it's just a really tight fit. Other than that, a great mount that I would recommend.Wednesday, September 3, 2014
Best Arkon Universal Seat Bolt and Floor Mount with Mega Grip Holder Deals
Lets you mount your phone at the perfect height. Very simple to install, just loosen one screw that holds your seat on, slide the bracket on, then retighten the screw. The goose neck and bracket are very solid metal construction. The phone mount itself is made of a plastic that _will not_ stand up to much abuse (this is the weakest part of the product). It doesn't have the drawbacks that all of the other methods have (doesn't use up my cupholder, doesn't put weight on my lighter port, doesn't block and air condition vent, and doesn't block my view on the windshield, which, BTW, cops in most states can give you a ticket for). I don't know of any better options out there, so I bought one for each car. I just wish the cradle where better constructed. I've had some problems with the "wings" that compress in to hold the device and snap out to release it, becoming stuck. Or occasionally the wings become off-kilter, with one popping out more than the other. To fix it, you have to force the wings closed, and I have a feeling that this is stripping the plastic pieces inside. Also, on one of them part of the cradle that mounts to the arm and lets it spin 360 degrees around became stripped. I had to jimmy-rig it so that the unit would stay in place.
