rack is great for hauling the bikes from home to ride, and back. It is not designed to be attached to the rear of an rv, where motion can be excessive, so buyers might note this. as an rv owner, I fully understand. But, when shopping, it is not mentioned. Construction is a bit light, I add one heavy duty bungee to secure everything and I am really pleased. The 2" would be more stable than the 1 1/4" but slowing down on railroad tracks will be a good idea. Two recumbents can be quite a load for any rack. Driving conservatively is suggested. Rack is not robust enough to survive a Jeep track to a trail head.

after installation I noted one side of rack was drooping so called manufacturer and discussed with Rick. He told me to send a pic and he would get a newer part out to me. Upon closer inspection, I decided the receiver was not plumb and that was causing the drooping arm, not any problem with the rack. Point is; good customer service was observed.

Would I buy rack again. Yes, good quality for the price.

This is an excellent product. Potential buyers need to measure carefully to be sure their vehicle and hitch location allow for sufficient space from the back of the vehicle to the carrying portions of the rack. This is especially true for vehicles with externally mounted spare tires, like the 2003 Honda CR-V to which I mount my rack. If you have a recumbent with underseat steering, consider where the handlebars will meet the center tube that goes straight up and down. The tire mounts can slide back and forth, but ideally you want them fairly centered and for the bike not to protrude too far out in either direction from the sides of the vehicle. It is no fault of the rack, at all, but my particular recumbent (HP Velotechnik Street Machine Gte, underseat steering) has to be carefully maneuvered to get the sliding attachment down in the right spot when the tire mounts are located so that the overall bike is centered across the rear of the vehicle. It is not simply a matter of setting the bike in the rack and going. Again, I see this as the result of my particular bike, which is not that common, and no fault of the rack. The rack is excellent well designed, well made, easily assembled. I strongly recommend also getting the locking hitch pin and security cable. They are reasonably priced and when ordered as a set come with matching keys. I am very happy with my purchase and would not hesitate to buy the exact same product, if I needed to do so again.

This hitch rocks! I have struggled with transporting my Long Wheelbase recumbent for years. I even resorted to fabricating my own add-on to a hitch based standard bike rack as a solution. This worked to a degree but had to be mounted and attached to the rack and removed as well at the end of the trip big pain. The beauty of the Hollywood hitch is that you mount it into your hitch set the wheel wells at the right distance for your bike and just use it. It takes perhaps a minute to set the bike in the wells. strap the two wheels, and push the center bar down over the top frame tube. It's literally the epitome of ease. I would highly recommend this rack to recumbent owners.

Nicely designed and well engineered. Very fast delivery.

The included threaded hitch pin must be fully tightened to solidly secure rack to hitch.

I use the two included long straps to secure the front and rear of the bike to the integral roof rack of my Wagon.

I purchased a #915 Fork Mount from Hollywood Racks to reduce the overall length of the bike by the radius of the front wheel (10" in my bike's case). HR might tell you that its FWM-ADP Adapter is required for that Mount. It's not. I just flipped a Wheel Holder (part of the rack assembly) and attached the Mount to it.

Easy to put on / off very secure doesn't move around much at all. Very easy to adjust for diferent biles, I have tape on the bar to mark where to slide the wheel trays easy. Supports 1 1/4 and 2 inch hitches right out of the box. I have a class 1, 1 1/4 hitch.

For my long wheelbase Recumbent (Goldrush) I bought a 915 fork mount directly from Hollwwood Racks (The mount stays on the end of the wheel tray), I remove front wheel; (about 10 inches of length saved rght there) turn the forks around (more length savings) and mount the bike as usual. This way a long wheelbase fits within the width (including mirrors) of a 07 honda Civic!

By the way, although this rack supports 2 bikes, I can only ride one at a time, so I left 2 wheel trays and 1 frame hook thingy in the garage. This makes it even easiler to put on/off the car (lighter), and putting the bike on is a bit easiler as well. I mention here since I started to set up just like it was pictured, until I realized, one bike supports what I need. So don't think you have to follow the instrucions / pictures exactly. If a friend wants to come with me I can easily add the wheel trays and frame hook thngy.
