The product is shipped in a normal heavy box, but not sturdy enough for shipping, so the product arrived in a box that was battle worn, ripped open, and re-taped by the shipping company. At first glance, we assumed we may be missing some parts, but no worries, the pins are installed and the instructions and included plastic red flag were rolled up and inserted in one of the end tubes.

We purchased this product to use as a canoe hauler for our SUV and Pick-Up Truck.

This product is easy to use and very sturdy. The product is heavy steel painted black (touch up with a can later when it shows weathering) and has 5 adjustable holes for fitting various heighth SUV's or Pick-Up beds. The included pins and side bolts are high quality and well made. (No issues with the hole alignment or out of square on ours)

I installed the product from box to SUV in under 40 seconds. This is a no brainer...it's steel, it's inexpensive, and much easier to use than other types of carriers.

After reviewing similar products and systems, reading reviews and comments, this one stood out as high quality for value.

-The max load per label is 350 lbs. It's steel, use common sense, because in various configurations, physics are going to change the load factor.

-It's well built, heavy and the hitch bar stores in the cross bar for easy storage.

For the money we spent I am very pleased with the quality, design and ease of use of the product.

I have an F 150 and a 13 foot kayak. This thing is great because I can shove the kayak in the back of the truck and lash it down all by myself. It's solid, safe and even comes with a little red flag to put on the kayak. Before extend a truck I always needed help to load the kayak on top of the truck. Now I can do it myself so I've increased my kayaking time a bunch and that's what it's all about.

I have a front receiver on the Tacoma pickup and can haul 20' lumber with the Extend-A-Truck mounted on my front receiver and roof racks on my cap.

Also we have a sailboat with a 25' mast which rides very well on the rigging, very stable. Extra tie-downs help also on the "T" bar.

I was not sure if this was going to be strong enough to carry the load of the very long metal canoe I was going to haul in my very short truck, but I was pleastly surprised when I plugged in the support and proceeded to stand on it. It was not a problem at all and works great. Check the weight rating for your needs, but I believe this will carry 300 pounds. It is small enough to store behind the seat of an extended cab when not in use if this is a feature you also need. Good for those times when a load will just not work without a longer support. Just remember to secure your stuff.
