Neither the picture nor the item descriptions provide information about the size of the item so I though it could be helpful to post the dimensions of this item as I received it:

Total length (with the two silver color buttons buckled, not calculating the rings): 3.12 inches (9.5 cm)

Total metal piece width: 1.2 inches (3 cm)

Thickness of the metal piece: 0.6 inches (1.5 cm)

I don't know about the older models but this seems pretty durable, eye catcher and very practical to me. I recommend it.

This thing is so sweet, you're going to love it. Yes it's real metal, yes it actually clicks in place and functions just like an old school seatbelt buckle, yes it really holds your keys securely. I actually cut the belt loop part off and moved one of the rings to that part so that I could separate my car and house key from my office keys in the event that my wife and I swapped vehicles for the day. You won't regret your purchase, I just love it.

This item is NOT made by VW, I believe, since I've seen it available with other car logos. But it's very well made, and the keyring part clicks in with an authoritative "click," just like a real seatbelt does. There's a hole to add a third keyring if desired. Nice and very different!

I bought this type of product years ago, and it lasted for years before the clasp gave out. This new version does not feel as solid, i'm afraid -like most everything else manufactured recently. And it's twice as expensive. But it works -and as long as it works, i find it THE MOST CONVENIENT keychain for someone who has to walk around unlocking doors 87 times per day. Just push the button, use the key, reattach the key. Hard to lose. I don't fear losing my all-important key. Holds up to everyday life hanging from my belt. Much stronger than a key on a stretch-wire. And everyone who sees it is fascinated.
