I'm not a mechanic, so I don't know if it is helping my engine as it claims; but my car runs fine after using it for about a month and a half, and my gas mileage increased from 21.6 to 22.2 mpg, and it may increase further. I bought this product because I heard that ethanol has bad effects on engines, especially small engines, so I also use it for my lawn mower and snowblower.

I have several hobby cars including an older Weber-equipped Alfa Romeo that don't get daily use. Consequently, the gas gets stale and the injectors get gummed-up, all of which affects starting and drivability. Add to that the ever-increasing use of that lousy ethanol by gas companies, and it's a nightmare for car enthusiasts with older cars.

I recently took a chance with this Lucas product, and tried it first on my finicky Spider. I added 3 ounces to the 12 gallon tank (the instructions recommend 1ounce for every 5 gallons). Startup is now instantaneous, and the mid-range hesitation is gone. I generally have avoided fuel additives in my cars, but this one has made a believer of me. It will now go in my other cars.

This product is an essential additive for older cars. Ethanol can destroy the fuel injectors and fuel system components in older cars. This has prompted gas stations to post warnings such as "Consult your manufacturer for use of gasoline with ethanol in mid-1980 and older equipment". This warning was observed at my local Sunoco station. This product should be used with every fill up if you would like to keep your older car running.
