I was little hesitated to purchase this product since I couldn't find any review of this product. After sending a few questions to the seller and receiving the answers on the same day. I wanna to give it a try. The product came really fast.

I spent $80 for the professional installation. The reason for the cheap price for the installation is he installed PYLE PLCM7200 7-Inch TFT Mirror Monitor with Rear-View Night Vision Camera on my 2011 Prius about a month ago. Which I hated it. It blocked my right side of the view and the screen was horrible.

Well guess what, this Navigation unit is awesome. The music sound is better, Navigation unit is very accurate, and top of all my back up camera screen is better. The hands free phone feather works and provides good sound on my side. I haven't had a time to try the DVD yet since I am not planning to use it or Ipod. But the installer tried the Ipod, it works great. It was a good decision to try this product. And best of all the price is $495. Can't beat that.

The product works pretty much as advertised, however the documentation is atrocious and there are no useful installation instructions. Support is by e-mail. Several (but not all) of my questions have been answered and a replacement component (GPS data chip) is in the mail. The forum is moderated and none of my postings have been accepted yet, so this may not be as useful as it might have been.

Sound quality, fit and finish are good, and the face looks as if it is a real Toyota part! The unit runs MS Windows so there are plenty of "idiosyncrasies" to note, but generally just curiosities. This unit compares reasonably well to other GPS units I have used. The GPS makes some ill considered decisions, but that is pretty much typical of any GPS. The night mode map graphics (switchable to day, night or auto) are too weak to see, but work OK if you have a route programmed, therefore highlighting the road you are on. There is currently no sound from the GPS, but this should be fixed by a replacement GPS data chip. Back to the documentation issue: two of the buttons are labeled oddly: "Open" should be "Eject" and the "Dimm" button actually brightens the screen in three steps, cycling through black on the way back to the dimmest setting.

Installation, with one exception, seemed to go well as long as you are comfortable with disassembling the Prius dashboard trim pieces (in the proper order!). The one problem is that the metal mounting bracket from the factory radio (2011 Prius trim level II) does not fit this radio. I found that it is usable if you grind off the locating pins and elongate the front holes, which are accessible when the unit is snapped into place. It is then possible to bolt the brackets back in place and install 4 of the original 8 mounting screws. The connector that supports Apple and USB connections does not have a good detent, so it was difficult to get it to stay in place. It is may come loose over time. The Apple and USB cables don't have any good place to go, so at the moment mine are dangling from under the dash. There are a lot of un-used connections, but the adapter harness seems to fit the necessary factory wiring. Left over connections are apparently moot. The steering wheel buttons work like they should.

My iPod Nano works properly and my Android phone's bluetooth calling feature works, however I have yet to confirm the voice quality from the remote microphone. It is probably very dependent on placement and ambient noise.

I would have to give this a one-thumb-up based on value since most other options are twice the price or standard form-factor systems that sit in the middle of an ugly adapter plate.

Honest reviews on OEM Replacement DVD Touchscreen GPS Navigation Unit For Toyota

I bought this for my wife's Prius to replace the standard factory radio and it works good.

The color is a perfect match but the fit was not, initially. To fix this, all I did was measure the distance from the face of the original unit to the bracket mounting holes. I made sure the distances were the same on the new unit by bending the bracket about 1/4 inch for the lower hole. After the bracket adjustment it looked and fit perfect.

I tested the iPod connector on my iPhone 5 (with a 30pin to lightning adapter from apple) and my wife's iPhone 4s and both worked great. Once it's connected you can just use the unit's screen to select albums, artists, etc.. You can also play Pandora but you can't control your channels through the unit which is understandable since its a third party application. Streaming music over bluetooth does not work.

Once I completed the installation I called my wife over bluetooth and she said it was hard to understand what I was saying. She said my voice was clear at times but sometimes she had to listen closely to make out my words. I had her call me from the car I could hear her just fine. I think the microphone might be the problem because she said I got better when I got real close; but I'm not sure.

My wife is happy so I'm happy. Overall I think this unit is good for $499.

This is a first review that I am writing for an item that I purchased through Amazon. I am writing this review to give a true feedback on this item. I read the other three reviews which influenced me to buy this replacement unit. Overall, I am very dissatisfied with this item. It does not fit perfectly into the dash. The mounting bracket does not fit perfectly into the unit therefore the radio does not fit into the dash perfectly. It sticks out about 0.5 to 1cm.

The unit also has poor radio reception. It takes forever to boot up the navigation.

The instruction booklet that came with the unit is very inadequate at best. It does not give any instruction on installation.

The only good thing that I can say about the unit is that it looks nice and it does blend in very well with dash.

For $500 which is not cheap, I expect better product.
