These struts are amazing. I bought 2 to replace the rotten original ones on my '98 VR6, and these are so much better. The spring is EXTREMELY tight, and the whole assembly is a nice glossy black. These are definitely the best choice if you're not interested in performance coil-overs, and are just looking for a smooth ride. Installation didn't take too long if you're into simple mechanical work, and some tips would include owning a short socket set for a ratchet, and having both sides of the car lifted at the same time, because it can be tricky to do one side, then try to fit the other one in the strut mount at the bottom behind the rotor heat-shield. Once you understand how the first works, it's easy from there. Would definitely recommend due to the value.

I replaced both rear strut assemblies and this product worked perfectly. They were easy and straightforward to remove and replace as a single unit. No special tools required. The ride is excellent. Wish they made these for all my vehicles.Best Deals for Monroe 171265 Quick-Strut Complete Strut Assembly
I used to have some incredibly bad sounding rear end and didn't want to fool with compressing shocks myself, so the complete strut quick assembly was perfect. I took my maybe 30-45 minutes per shock and an extra hand from my buddies for a couple of second, but it wasn't bad at all. Now I can put stuf in the truck, or let people sit in the back seat without hearing Armageddon going on under the wheel well. Thanx Monroe for making the shock, and whoever it was at Amazon for selling it to me cheap!Honest reviews on Monroe 171265 Quick-Strut Complete Strut Assembly
We installed these on our 1998 Jetta. As others have noted, lifting both sides of the car during installation makes all the difference. And, yeah, shallow ratchet sockets would be very handy.BUT...
These struts have jacked up the rear of the car by several inches, and they are NOT settling down after a couple of months. The ride is truck-rough and noisy, noisy, noisy. Squeaks and rattles and twisting rubber noises careen up through the entire car and the whole vehicle jounces and bounces like I am off-roading, just by going through rain gutters.
Yuck.
