My wife wanted something that would make it easy to break the glass and cut a seatbelt in the event of a problem. Maybe she has seen to many TV shows, but I thought this would be good for her.

It is OK. It lasted on her key chain for about two months before it came off and will not stay on. The key chain attaches to the release for the seat belt cutter. Once this comes off good luck with it. I have put it back on several times, but it simply will not stay.

I have used it myself for tire pressure. It works well and provides accurate information. You have to make sure you are on the right settings as I think they tried to add to much functionality with PSI and 2 other measurements which I will never use.

The Compass was handy once when trying to win an argument about which direction we were going ;-). My wife took a spill with her keys in hand and the compass is now scratched and unreadable for the most part. No fault of the item here as it did not break it.

Have not tried the glass break yet, though it seems dangerous to have that in your pocket all the time. I find myself wanting to break plate glass windows when I borrow her car, though I have never really released this urge to test it. Could be a problem for some early drivers.

The flashing light is pretty much worthless as a single red LED.

The other light(s), white, do come in handy if your dome lights are out. I used it once outside of the car, but my cell phone screen was brighter.

The siren, not terribly loud but annoying if you can ever figure out how to turn it off (press and hold). I think your car honking would bring more attention and this feature we have only seem to hit when we did not want it to work.

If you are looking for something to leave in the car this could be a winner if you want to test the glass breaker. As a key chain item this has been useless after a few months since it falls off. If they could fix that it would be 5 for 5 stars.

First of all, it came in a very elegant and sturdy gift box, its very presentable as a gift.I tested the glass breaker by pressing it against a piece of wood, it worked time and again, with no misfire. The cutter is very sharp, tested it by running it through an old sturdy fabric. The sonic sound, lights, thermometer, and tire gauge is not really that important to me, but its good that it came with the survivor kit. This could really save your life, better to have it and not use it.. But its there, and kept it in my cars. By the way, i bought 3 sets, and i am very satisfied with this purchase, no regrets...

The core things you'd buy this for are all there and robust: glass breaking and belt cutting features. This being said, you have to realize that the alarm, the blinking lights will go off on you if you put the device in a pocket and/or a purse. You can still keep the little battery blocker in to avoid that, and quicly pull it when about to use it. The ergonomics of having the glass breaker and belt cutter hanging from you car keys are of absolute necessity in a car crash, and more than make up for any incovenience the electronics will cause you.
