On long rides these pads take the stress and pressure from seat belts off of your collarbone and shoulder. If loosened when attached to the Velcro, the seatbelt retracts better.

These shoulder pads were not comfortable to use. They were stiff and over-priced. I even tried removing the foam padding and that did not help. Maybe I can find an alternative use for these...
