Before running this subwoofer, I had a 12" Pioeer 400w sub in a massive 16x18x18 enclosure. My only reservation about switching to the smaller sub and box was that I'd lose a lot of my bass kick-I was wrong. This little speaker is brilliantly designed! The internal fins push air out to the sides instead of straight down. The result is a full-range of bass in a very small package. People are shocked when I show them the size of the sub that's been making all the ruckus in my car!

I'd recommend this to anyone who's looking to save space in the boot and maintain a great-sounding low end to their system.

Shallow mount subwoofers are becoming very popular because the technology has gotten to the point that they are actually good, not just thin. Shallow mount means that the box it fits into can be quite thin from front to back. In the case of the Pioneer TSSW251 the internal volume can be very small as well. This means the sub can be mounted in more locations, often out of the way and hidden.

Note the rear view of the Pioneer sub. It is very unusual and clearly a lot of engineering effort has gone into making these things work. It is not just a flattened out conventional design.

I was able to hide it away in a cubby hole and got rid of the big box that used to take up a lot of cargo area, could attract thieves and would probably hit me in the back of the head in a collision.

Pioneer has recommended box volumes. Mine is home-made and is below the optimum size, but it still works very nicely, with a lot more bass than the previous traditional long-throw (deep dish) 8" sub in a far bigger box. It is designed for a sealed box, not a ported design.

Any decent amp will power it. No need for 1000 watts. I used a 350 watt mono Alpine.

I was very pleased with the price. It actually seems inexpensive for what you get.

I was sick of the lack luster performance of my stock Radio. For most people, it would be fine. I like a little bass to my music. I looked around and bought a custom box for my new Extended cab truck, and found a low profile speaker, at a damn good price (normally $199 at best buy, but $47 at Amazon). I put a 500 Peak amp to it, and have it barley turned on. The bass is amazing. I used to have 1500 Watt systems in my youth, and this is very near those bass hits. I would suggest to anyone, buy this speaker if you are tight on room, and what something the hits hard a crisp.

Bought this to replace my mtx thunder 5500 because it was too large to fit under my seat. I placed this new pioneer in the custom shallow mount box for my Nissan frontier and it sounds amazing. Fitted the TSSW251 in the SSV made fiberglass enclosure for the Jeep Wrangler (TJ) center console. It is shallow enough to fit while still producing solid bass response without distortion. I bought this for my work truck, 2009 Silverado WT. It holds all my stuff and keeps it from being a box of mixed junk. It is heavy, rugged, and well made. It matches the interior well and is a decent arm rest. The cup holders are non-adjustable and too small to keep tall bottles securely. The cup holders do protrude into the dashboard area as previously mentioned, making getting things in and out of that part a bit tight, but not impossible. It is belted onto my seat, but still has a tendency to tip when I lean on it to get in (maybe I'm just whining here). I keep a box of nitrile gloves, a day planner, tissues, wallet, tape measure, calculator, sunglasses, phone, phone charger, pens, flashlight, hat, etc. in there it holds a lot!

This had me fairly excited when I first opened it, because it's very large, and was just was I was looking for. However, after "installing" it, I noticed it had some short comings that made it a good console, but definitely not great. A few improvements, and this thing could be better than many factory consoles.

CONS first.

The strap on the underside which accepts the seat belt (to hold the unit in place) is too small to accept a regular seatbelt. This was the first obstacle that was a huge problem, and could have been fixed with the slightest of testing. If they had taken some design tips from the baby car seats, they could have come up with a rock solid solution instead, they chose a backward solution that was easy and cheap.

The main compartment flap opens towards the front of the vehicle, which is opposite of any console ever made. They did this so you could have a notepad on the reverse side which could be written on great idea, except the flap doesn't even come close to going to the flat [writable] position without breaking the hinge. I think they also did this because most would be installing this on a bench seat which would not allow the flap to come to a resting rear position. Its hard to tell if this is a design fail, or well thought out solution. The negative here though is that you can't write anything on the notepad design that is claimed in the description. When I tried, the wood and hinge starting crackling like it was going to break.

It has some plastic "storage" compartments inside, and I'm not sure what a few of them do. One of them is either for about six cassettes (yes, tapes) or three CDs. Yikes. I would prefer that space just be forfeited to the larger space.

PROS:

This thing is big. It has a large compartment, a smaller compartment (both with top "flaps"), and then two drink holders which are very well positioned, and a couple of random small change/key holders, etc. Very cool design overall.

It's long enough for any seat. I have a Ford Expedition with the bench seat, and this hangs over an inch or two, couldn't ask for a much better fit without it being custom. BTW, I got the black option, and it is all black... looks good, not cheap. People don't even notice its aftermarket.

Final thoughts:

Other than the few design flaws, this is a good console. The seat belt strap drives me wild, because I can't imagine any seatbelt I own that will fit through the provided loop. Because of this, the console isn't held down tight and I had to rig up something with zip ties... this is why I'm giving this 3 stars. For the price I paid, this should be rock solid. My big drinks at the front of the unit cause everything to tip forward, and if not checked, the whole unit will slide off the front.

For future consoles How about a 12V cig lighter input on the outside of this, so there could be a plug on the inside, like most factory consoles? I really miss that, but didn't expect to see it in aftermarket stuff.

UPDATE (after about 3 weeks of ownership):

I've upgraded this to four stars because the console, overall, is very good. Once I became accustomed to it, I don't want a fixed console anymore. This console is sturdy, and I have come to love the way the compartments are laid out. Someone saw it yesterday and demanded I tell them how they could buy one, ASAP. For the money, although expensive, I think this console is the best out there.

Looks great, I had originally bought 4. 2 for me and 2 for my grandson, but when I installed them one was an off color. I had to keep it anyway because I had cut the opening for the arm rest. This is why I had to order one more. I ended up using the off color one by opening the seams and and sewing in more fabric to make it fit t=he back bench seat. It looks great. I don't have center seats as that is open for my daughter's wheelchair.

works very good, make sure it is a little loose where the two cushions meet (in that corner) so it can move around a bit. I also did not tie it down, i just pulled it over, the straps it comes with are kinda inconvientnt. But, never tied it down and it works well. Wrinkled on the bottom coushion a bit, but i really dont care about that. ::)

this could have been a good product if it wasn't so flimsily made. the velcro piece that sticks to the window to hold the bottom of the shade down fell right off of my clean window, and the suction cups don't stay very long, either. the hole in the bottom tab to attach to the suction cup is too big and slips off the cup. the clip on the top that hooks over the top of the window broke apart on the second day of use. on the plus side, the roll-up action is good and the overall look is nicer than some other shades. it shades somewhat...i wish it were more opaque, though. overall, it's a cheap product that doesn't seem to stand up well to its intended usage.

Cheaply made but that's to be expected based on the price. Fine for occasional trips but not the best choice for daily use. Our 8 year old daughter broke the retracting mechanism the first time she pulled the shade down. We bought two of these for a long trip and they did the job, other than the fact we had to leave the broken one down the entire time.

Let me start off by saying, I DO really like this head unit. It completes the look of my interior. Now onto my more in-depth review..

Car installed in: 2007 VW EOS

Install difficulty level: Medium (if you know what you're doing)

Pros: Looks great; works, always a 'pro'; integrated with iPod/iPhone to charge and show song/artist titles on screen and ability change song (works with slacker radio and Pandora radio iPhone apps as well); definite upgrade from stock radio; basically plug and play (again, if you know what you're doing.); ability to change background display picture; fairly customizable; SD slot, big thumbs up. Could always load all your music onto a card and never have to hook your iPod up!

Neutral: Option to change button light color from green to red (or off) (don't like green and it doesn't go with the red/blue light "theme" on dash and heat controls so I keep it red.); a previous comment had said this was an OEM radio which it is NOT. It is an OEM replica, hence the cheap price tag. It is comparable to OEM but without the actual OEM label. Not a good or bad thing, unless you are looking for genuine OEM; start up photo is the VW logo, which I like but it is not customizable so hope you like it too; clock is in military time (bothers me, may not be an issue for others.); I had to feed my iPhone cable through the bottom of the dash, doesn't bother me but it looks very 'aftermarket,' if you're going for a clean look you may want to feed it through (if able to) the back of your dash so it comes out in your ashtray area.

Cons: NAVIGATION NOT INCLUDED!!!!!!! You need to BUY THE INSTALL DISK/SOFTWARE YOURSELF. The seller should put this in the info, unfortunately I had to find this out for myself after the fact, so just saving you the trouble; screen is very touchy, could be a pro or a con depending; very, very bright display, I turn the display off (easily accessible button) while driving at night or I can't see the road.

Seller: I didn't have a problem with the seller, package arrived on time and in good condition.

I've only had this for a few days, but so far it seems to work good. I especially like the iPhone integration. I don't have the navi set up because as I stated before, it didn't come with the software and again, thanks to the seller for mentioning that in the info (sarcasm.) I also did not set up the blue tooth because I don't talk on my phone in my car enough to use that feature. All in all, seems like a decent investment. Hope this review helps you out a little.

The only impressive thing about this product was a fast shipment, otherwise I was very dissapointed. First of all, after putting it in my VW Passat, it would set the airbag off. Radio would not connect to any of the radio stations here in the USA. Later on the seller would explain how to get the radio working but to me it was just trouble. This unit is GPS OPTIONAL!!! I recently purchased this unit via Amazon from Koolertron. I received the shipment earlier than promised by the seller via DHL. I was nervous opening the package ..... However, I was honestly very pleased to see a Original like VW Jetta Car Radio/DVD/GPS receiver. I was quite impatient to get it installed and the product quality including DVD quality picture, GPS connectivity was excellent and very honestly it looks and functions like the factory fit set-up (RDS 510)!

The only downside which is negligible is, there is no option to separately control the Bluetooth Telephone volume. The Bluetooth volume is dependent on the volume level of the Radio/CD/GPS which is not sufficient for a clear telephone call. This requires manual adjustment of the volume when a call is in progress. This is off course a very negligible downside, therefore no stars reduced for this minor flaw.

Then my encounter with the seller.... I must admit, the seller's responsiveness towards all my concerns and queries were answered quickly and efficiently. I had a problem of a damaged wire on the can bus connector and without many questions, I was promised a Free of Charge replacement. This is service par excellence and I congratulate the Koolertron team.

I highly recommend this product and certainly give full stars for product and supplier's customer service.

This radio looks very like the OEM version, but with a lot of features. Sound quality is good, very easy to install. The customer support is amazing and will take care of any issue you might run in.

I purchased the 15 piece zebra car accessories and was really excited and couldnt wait to get it and put in on my car and i got it really really fast BUT for one thing there was no directions on how to put it on and it had stretchy strings and little clips but no directions on how to use them to keep the seat cover on. Then when i very carefully put the first seat cover on my driver seat it snags....it looked like my seats were wearing nylons and it had snags in it, and it not only had one but several snags and it looked really bad and was super noticeable and the seat covers did not fit. That made me extremly mad and i packed the seat covers in the box and sent them back and i havent heard anything from the company ....havent gotten my money returned to me and its been almost 3 weeks now. I will never buy from this company again!

LOVE the zebra print! Bright white and black. Good quality so far and I've had it for 6 months. Soft. But I would just stick with the front seat covers and seat belt shoulder savers, not the whole package.

Complaints:

-Steering wheel cover is small, it look 20 minutes and TWO people sweating and stretching and huffing and puffing to get it on, and I have a small '97 Nissan Maxima. The outer edges of the steering wheel cover also ripped in multiple places when trying to get it on.

-Floor mats are made of the same material as the seats, the soft fabric with the rubber underneath. Feels nice on bare feet, but not practical for car use because they get TOO dirty TOO quick.

-Rear seat cover is not what you'd expect. It actually comes as 2 flat separate pieces like 2 blankets almost, no elastic to help them fit nicely like the front seats do. You actually have to remove the backseat, place the cover on, figure out a way to KEEP it on (safety pins) and then place the seat back where it should be...then do the same thing all over again for the backrest of the seat. Really too much hassle and not what expected for a seat cover.

HOWEVER, the front seat covers fit very well and the shoulder pads are also wonderful!

I ordered this 15 piece for my Ford Focus. The money was absolutley not worth it. There is much wrong with it.

1.) The velcro is sewn into the sides of the seat covers.

2.) The stitching is bad. The stitching was loose and was already coming out when I received this product.

3.) The seat covers do not go over the seat, as they do not fit the seat. The Velcro was in the wrong spot and I could not get the seat cover over the head rest to put the head rest cover on.

4.) Called the 1-800 number, a foreigner answered who did not speak proper English and could not understand my complaint. He reiterated the same sentence " E-mail the e-mail address on the packing slip."

5.) I will never buy from this company again. Cannot get my money back in full, and I have to pay to ship this product back to them. They will not incur the shipping charges to ship back and do not refund shipping with the purchase price.

I drive a 2000 VW Beetle, and was a little nervous about buying this seat cover set. The bucket seat covers fit nice, as do the headrest covers, seat belt shoulder straps, and the floormats (if such a thing is possible). The steering wheel cover was a tight fit, but after about 10minutes I finally was able to get it on, and it looks great!

I was overall suprised at how awesome the set looks inmy car! Not to mention I was suprised that the set is made out of a slightly plush material.

I only have two complaints. The back bench covers were way too big! Though this way be because of the size of my car, I'm not sure... I had to tuck about half of each piece around the sides. Also the clips the provide to help secure the covers are confusing to use. I chose not to use them and just sort of tuck the covers down, so far they are staying just fine.

Overall, if you are looking for a cheap, yet great looking seatcover this is perfect! Also perfect for new drivers!

This product is terrible. It actually caused "wet spot" stains all over the upholstery in two different cars of mine. There are wet spots either, they are full dried and not saturated.
