I have a leather purse that continually picks up dye from dark denim, despite numerous washings of said jeans. I had used other leather cleaners that worked just okay, but there was always some residual dye left on the purse. I used just a little of the Chamberlain's cleaner and 99% of that blue dye is now gone (and 99% is good enough for me)! I ordered the Chamberlain's conditioner and water protector as well and all three will be a routine from now on to keep my purse looking good as new

I purchased this leather cleaner for the exact same reason another reviewer did the dye from a pair of my jeans rubbed off on my brand new $300 purse. I did some brief research online and settled on Chamberlain's Leather Milk in hopes of removing the discoloration. I did a small test spot on the backside of the strap and after seeing it dried clear, went to work on my purse. In less than 5 minutes, with minimal effort, the dye was out. I purchased the #2 straight cleaner as well as the #1 Leather liniment and used both on two pairs of $400 To Boot Italian dress shoes. I made the mistake of using the #2 Straight cleaner on the shoes and that discolored the brown shoes and made them noticeably lighter. I tested the #2 cleaner on an inconspicuous area and it was fine but then cleaned the whole shoe with it and that was a mistake. The #2 cleaner made the leather really clean and soft but discolored the brown shoes. If I could do it over again I would just use only the #1 Leather liniment and then just pre-brush the shoes with a horse hair brush. The liniment is amazing and I used it on my leather dining room chairs and they look new. Then I used it on my leather seats in my car and they looked great too. I don't know what the main application of the #2 straight cleaner is but I'm a little gun-shy now so I'll just stick with the leather liniment.I also wanted to compliment this company on their amazing attention to customer service and level of care they showed to me. Someone from their company actually personally reached out to me to see how I liked the product without me sending them an email first. I told him about my issue with the #2 straight cleaner and he not only gave me some great info on re-dyeing my brown shoes but he also processed a refund for me and I didn't even request it at all. I will continue buying the Leather liniment and then try the straight cleaner on something else that isn't as valuable to me. This is just my experience and I hope it helps someone make an informed decision.

It would seem based on other reviews that this isn't a scam or just water, instead, it's a very delicate cleaner. I wouldn't call it the best leather cleaner. I tried it on several surfaces including a wingback chair, desk chair, an Eames knock-off and leather car seats.The surfaces that weren't that dirty came clean well. Although these likely would have come clean with a damp cloth, the chamberlains was probably good for the leather.
The surfaces that were dirtier didn't come completely clean but did improve slightly.
I ended up having to go over the car seats with Meguiar's gold class cleaner which did a much better job and didn't appear to do any harm to the softness and texture of the seats.
I went over the ottoman chair with a cheap store bought strong cleaner which did a much better job for much less.
Maybe in conjunction with their other chamberlains' products you would achieve better results. For the cost though, I wouldn't buy more to test that theory.
