Installed on 1995 Nissan Maxima. Buying the Quick-Strut assembly is the only way to go. Did both sides in less than 4 hours, total, on driveway with $30 light duty hydraulic jack. (I am old hand at this stuff, so BE VERY CAREFUL when jacking and blocking car. Use only good quality jack stands or solid timber blocks. NO CONCRETE BLOCKS-they can explode and collapse) I used timber block (2 x 8's nailed together in stack) under frame at lower control arm pivot so tire was only and inch off ground. Once car is blocked up, it is only a matter of three nuts on top mount, two big bolts on lower control arm, and a brake hose clip. The top mount needs rotated for studs to match hole pattern in car, but I easily hit the studs on strut top mount with rubber mallet to rotate it. Be careful of brake hose. Cover brake disk with paper to keep crud dropping on it or getting touched by greasy stuff.

Car drives like new. The best local price was $200 from Advance Auto. NAPA was $240. Duh? Bottom line: I saved $70 each and didn't have to leave house to get them. Need to plan ahead to get free Amazon shipping because of time. I got mine shipped free in two days with Amazon Prime trial offer.

Would be easy 5-star, but the nuts that came with one strut were galvanized and would not thread onto studs without oil. Almost ruined one stud, had to clean thread with die to recover. Other strut was OK. Had factory style plating and went right on.

1998 Nissan Maxima GXE

UPDATE:

Changed a few steps around to better reflect what to do. Doing the right is pretty similar to the left.

The strut is a great idea. Everything assembled so all you have to do is:

Tools:

-Ratchet set plus extra wrench/ratchet to hold other side of bolt (3/8 I think and mainly 3/4 and something small for top nuts)

-Torque Wrench (optional, but good to have)

-Torch (if it's really rusty on the knuckle nuts)

-WD40 or similar lubricant (don't get any on the rotor!)

-Punch tool or something similar (to knock bolt out other side if it gives you trouble)

-Hammer

-Flat pry bar (may come in handy to move strut around if you find yourself stuck just be careful for cv boot)

-Pick or similar tool to scratch off rust and grease (small flathead works)

Removal:

-Take off your wheel (loosen lug nuts before jacking car up!)

-Using pliers, remove the brake line retention clip from the strut (just look for the hose attached to the strut. There should be a little piece fitting it in there that looks like a U bent curvey)

-Remove the two strut knuckle nuts located at the bottom of the strut (bottom left on amazon picture). I had a very hard time getting these off. Had to use a combination of heat from my torch can, WD40, a pic like tool to scratch away at grime around nuts, and a longer wrench than my ratchet to give leverage.

-Do your best to get the knuckle frame away from the strut (the cv joint takes a fair amount of wiggling, just don't hyper-extend it)

-Remove top three nuts from under the hood. (DO NOT REMOVE NUT IN THE CENTER OF THE TRIANGLE!!! This holds the coil in place...)

-Personally, I had to kick the strut out from off my cv boot (rubber black accordion looking thing). My boot was already ripped so I wasn't worried about ripping it more. This takes some patience and wiggling.

To Install:

-Put top part in first. I started on the left side of the wheel well and slowly got the top of the strut where it needed to go. This part takes alot of wiggling around to get it in place. I also had to push down on the rotor to get the knuckle over everything.

-Now this part is tricky and not even my haynes manual told me this: You have to adjust the studs (the three "Screws" that protrude up and under your hood) in such a way that they line up 60-90 degrees clockwise from where they should be. The best thing to do is look at how the bearing plate (the black flat piece on the top of your new suspension) angles and lines up under your hood (do this before putting it in). Each stud should line up according to height. Furthermore, there should be an "F" near one of the studs that symbolizes the stud that is furthest towards the front of your car. To adjust, get a wrench with a circular end and put it on the stud and move the other end all the way against another stud and rotate it.

-After you get the studs in the hole, secure them (helps if you have an assistant on this part) with a good hand tighten. You want them all the way on there to give yourself as much leverage on the bottom as possible.

-Using hand strength or whatever you can safely use, move the bottom of the strut so as to line up with the knuckle.

-Put bolts back in (I sprayed with lubricant first since mine were so hard to get off in the first place)

-Tighten to 46-56 Foot Pounds (pretty much hand tighten to the point where its not moving anymore, just don't overdo it.)

-Don't forget about the nuts up top in case you didn't tighten them completely. Same idea.

-Put brake line back in with clip. I couldn't FOR THE LIFE OF ME get that clip back on. I was forced to bend the strut piece together so that it kept the brake line metal brushing in place.

-Put wheel back on and such.

Few tips:

-Remember, if this is the first time this has been done, expect to encounter ALOT of resistance due to rust and... Well... 11 years worth of stuff built up!

-I always lower my jack down a bit after getting the wheel off. I don't like taking weight off of my back tire.

-Have your E-Brake on while doing your fronts. Not sure about the backs.

-Try not to grease your rotor up too much. You can always wipe it but remember: that's what your brakes squeeze against.

-An assistant is very helpful! the Strut is a good 35 pounds that you have to hold up, move side to side, wiggle, and apply constant pressure to to get the top nuts on. Even the strongest people will get tired having their arms above their heads.

-Double Check your work before putting your tire back on.

-If you bought for both sides of your car, there's a sticker on the non-amazon box with the model number and a perfect opportunity to mark "left" or "right" on it to avoid confusion. I don't even know if they're different. Better safe than sorry. UPDATE: These models feature an "R" and "L" on the piece that holds the brake line.

Taking the strut off was very easy.I could not line up the bolts when i put the new strut on.After about two hours of wrestling with the strut trying to line up the holes for the bottom two bolts.I put the transmission in drive and the bolts lined and the strut was on in ten minutes.I hope this helps someone when the changing the quik strut complete assembly on a 1998 maxima. Jack it up and put the transmission in drive and it is an easy job.

These are excellent easy drop in replacements. No spring compressors needed to remove the old struts on the car or to install these. NOTE: the mount that goes in the top of the wheel well will have to be rotated 60 degrees so the studs line up with the body of the car. One person can hold the spring while another rotates the mount at the top. It's not hard.

I have replaced the strut and spring assembly on my cars at least 5 times. For some reason, my last change was going horribly and I kept stripping the piston rod nut on the strut when I was putting it together. I literally almost died when the nut popped off. These things are a breeze, for an extra bit of money you save an incredible amount of time and hassle. They pop right on with all the components brand new. If your car has over 100k you might want to change the springs anyways, plus with the new mounts, seats and boots it really ends up being cost effective. I've tried it both ways and these Quik-Struts are just better in my opinion.

I bought this because it one of the cheapest seat covers I could find, and well, it's certainly cheap. It's basically just 2-3mm foam roughly sew onto spandex. That having been said, it gets the job done, and I'd say it was worth it. My only real complaint is that sometimes when I get out of my car it kind of moves on the seat a little bit and I have to adjust it before I sit back down.

This was a birthday gift for husband. He loves his MB ML and I thought would be a nice replacement for a very broken sun shade. The quality is very nice but it is not wide enough and about an inch to high. If they had moved the extra height to the width this would have earned 5 stars. The quality is amazing. This will easily last the life of us owning this car. I would return it but again, excellent quality.

I got this little stool to assist students in the classroom at their desks. This might sound strange, but I want to be on their level, not towering over them. Also ankles and knees get sore when you crouch all day. This stool is short and folds easily. It exactly suited this purpose. It is fairly sturdy and light weight.

I purchased the Leather Lumbar Support Cushion with the hopes of improving my posture while driving, along with protecting my seat upholstery from any unfortunate spills, etc. It works and supports fine, but I was extremely disappointed to notice that within only three days of use (total seated time = approximately three hours), the stitching was coming undone at the seams in two separate spots. I'm still using it, but there's no question that these are poorly made and will likely last less than a year before requiring replacement. Then again, you get what you pay for.

Also, take note that as with anything black in the hot sun, the cushion gets significantly hot when left inside a parked car during the hot spring / summer months, particularly here in Philadelphia. This is not a failing of the product, mind you, just something to keep in mind.

I bought 2 of these through another retailer. I've read some of the other low reviews here and have had a different experience. I've been using them for about 2 months now with no stitching or odor problems at all. I like the protective and support aspects. I could wish they were a little larger to protect the door-side seat stitching that I pivot on when getting out. One thing to note is mine are in a compact hatch-back and still don't completely cover the seat.

The only (small) complaint I'd have is that the elastic straps don't hold it firmly in place and sometimes I have to pull the cushion bottom over by a couple of inches.

I'd still buy them again and recommend them to anyone driving a smaller car.

UPDATE: I've been using these for about 4 months now and one has started to split. I honestly don't know if it's because of a flaw or a small dog's nails but I just put some clear Shoe Goop on to seal it and am still using it. I may not get a year's use out of these but I like them well enough that I'll probably buy more when necessary.

Works ok as a leather pad that allows you to slde in and out with out sticking to the cloth upholstry.

For those of you who own a 2012 or 2013 Honda CRV and are missing the bottom end to your music, fear not, the Lynx Audio SW-833 subwoofer is a perfect match. The sound system in the new CRV sucks, no bass whatsoever, granted the radio is not bad, but the bass is non-existent. Honda needs to learn from other car makers when it comes to car audio. I had it professionally installed and attached to the left back seat because I have a removable rubber cargo mat. The bass is awesome, not window rattling, but just the right amount of punch. I now enjoy listening to music while driving again.

Cons:

The remote volume level is quite large, only because the volume and crossover control is on the same unit and not on the speaker box. But that was not an issue for me. I just had the installer attach the controller next to the unit, set it at the right level and forget it, done deal. I have no need to adjust the bass anyway.

This unit adds the right amount of bass punch and greatly improved the sound system in my CRV. Highly recommended.

I installed this into a 2013 Tahoe and all stock features worked as advertised, using provided cabling. Looks seamlessly stock, but has better features than Stock GM Navigation system. I had to splice into my factory rear camera at the rear-view mirror connector (Pins 6-white and 7-Blue) to use the Head Unit's RCA REAR-VIEW camera connection. You can also purchase a USB adapter to connect the New Navigation USB to the Truck USB cable for $3 on Amazon which will allow the USB connection in the console to communicate to your new Navigation unit for playing video/audio media. Maps were updated through May-2012 and can be updated through a micro-SD slot in the front. The menus are very simple to use and response between all Input/Outputs Navigation/XM-radio/DVD/Aux is extremely fast. I would highly recommend this system to anyone not wanted to shell out what the dealer is wanting you to pay for the GM Navigation System.

Update to others: The Unit comes very with little instructions, but there is a Forum at Simplesoft that will answer most installation related questions, as well as the owners manual for download. This Unit is known as the 80xx-II Model. xx in the model# determines what car it is fit for, but the software is the same for all. Simplesoft's forum link [Google search will find it by searching "Simplesoft Navigation"

Tips:

The cabling harness comes with 2 pairs of RCA connections which need to be connected together for the XM radio to have sound. There are several RCA cables, but look for the ones with XM on them.

If you have factory Bluetooth, I wouldn't bother with the Bluetooth offered with this Nav Unit. If you don't have Bluetooth, the Nav unit comes with the Mic that you can install to take advantage of the Bluetooth function.

Maps can be updated through Naviextras.com for about $70(This Nav Unit is listed on Naviextras as (Flyaudio USA 80-II). You would need to download the Naviextras Toolbox software, then it should recognize the Nav's MicroSD card on your PC....same as any other mobil navigation device. The MicroSD for the Navigation is location on the front panel of the Nav Unit.

At first I wanted to get an after market radio but found out that the steering wheel controls would not work. I had to buy this other kit to make them work more money, then you have to buy the mount kit, wire harness kit more money. But this radio is awesome that you do not need all those kits for installation, all i did just unplug two connectors and the antenna and that was it. When connecting the new radio you just plug in the connectors and you can not even miss connect them. Its that easy if you want to run the usb and ipod connections through the bottom of the dash through the passenger side and to the console so you can have them handy and thats it your done.. Bolt the radio with the four screws that came with the factory radio and looks like it came from the factory. NICE!!! unit highly recommend this radio if you are planning to up grade..To many features to review just buy the radio and you will be satisfied.

I recently installed this head unit in my 2013 Suburban. I ordered the plastic tools to help with removing the trim around the radio which helped a great deal since the clips can be difficult to remove, and the plastic trim is not very thick. The harnesses were simple to match up. I did have to make sure that I connected the pink wire for the Back LCD. I also made sure to order the USB 2.0 A Male to Mini-5 Female Adapter to be able to connect the USB from the head unit to the USB harness in the vehicle. I ran the antenna for the GPS to the stock location under the dash panel near the defrost vents. I decided to use the Bluetooth with the head unit since I wanted to have the ability to use the touch screen Bluetooth that is included with the head unit since it gives you more options than the factory Bluetooth. I watched a video on vimeo.com that shows where to place the GPS antenna and Bluetooth microphone, . Following this video makes it easy to install the GPS antenna and Bluetooth cable.Other posts have mentioned that the radio reception is not as good as the factory unit which has also been my experience. My steering wheel controls work, but I did notice that while you can scroll through your radio presets, you can only scroll to the next station when using satellite radio which is annoying. You should be able to use the steering wheel controls to scroll to the next satellite preset just as you can with the radio. I have had a couple of issues in which the satellite radio is not picking up a signal when I am driving the vehicle. Powering off the radio and restarting it has resolved the issue, but this can be annoying as well if you have to wait to power down the unit to use the satellite radio. The navigation works very well. It is very detailed. I like the speed limit and speed indicators as well as the lane details for upcoming exits while traveling on a highway. I also connected the iPod cable and it works very well with both my iPhone and iPod. I had a rear back up camera installed and it connected easily to this unit. The picture is very clear and was much needed since my Suburban did not come from the factory with a back up camera. I used the Back LCD to connect to an overhead monitor that I had installed but found that only the audio/video for the DVD and CDC can be used. I wanted to use the AUX input to send another audio/video signal from a Sirius Backseat TV unit that I had installed, but with this unit it is not possible to do so. I had to find another option to feed the AUX audio/video signal to my overhead monitor since you can't use the Back LCD to do so. The Back LCD also seems to control the volume of the audio that is output from it which is an issue if you are not watching the DVD on the head unit and the children watching the overhead monitor want to control the volume of the audio from their headphones. I have to agree with other users about the delay when turning on the unit and when using the GPS for the first time, but it is tolerable for me. I did find a link from Fly Audio that will allow you to install your vehicle manufacturers logo so that you can see this at start up. I have not done this yet but plan to do so. Here is the link, The issue with the GPS not displaying the time can be resolved by touching the speed indicator on the GPS. If you hit the speed indicator it will also show the speed limit and time. Overall this is a nice unit. It looks factory and retains all of the factory functions which was most important to me.

awesome plug and play. wiring pigtails already on harness made it easy to add accesories. i can really only find a couple of faults; reception isn't as good as stock, not bad but not perfect. Clock only displays on gps screen and home page. i really liked my stock radios headphone input on the radio itself but a adapter for the usb works fine, just neater stock. blue tooth could use some updates as it only is phone, no music or anything. great radio otherwise, im glad i bought it. i added some things but install with everything i did (backup camera, routing gps antenna, modifying faceplate for the usb and iphone hook up and a couple minor details) was under two hours. you could have this thing ready to go in less than 30 minutes. looks perfect. only reason its four stars is the reception. hope this helps
